NACP representatives presented the effectiveness of strategic corruption risk analysis approaches at the regional seminar of the Council of Europe

25.01.2024

The delegation of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine took part in the regional seminar "Tools for Assessing and Managing Corruption Risks in the Eastern Partnership Region (Ukraine, Republic of Moldova, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia)" organized by the Council of Europe.

"The NACP team presented the direction of strategic analysis of corruption risks in the priority areas of legal regulation and anti-corruption expertise, which were introduced by the National Agency in 2020. The results of the research allow us to develop and implement effective ways to minimize corruption risks in order to build a virtuous government and a just society. Our experience can be called unique and can be useful for institutions in other countries," said Olena Kryvoshei, Head of the NACP's Department for Corruption Risk Mitigation and Anti-Corruption Expertise.

Experts from the Council of Europe and other countries highly appreciated the development of this area in Ukraine. Slovenian representatives were interested in the methodology for visualizing corruption schemes. They are currently considering similar ideas for implementation. Armenia's representatives found Ukraine's experience in introducing anti-corruption safeguards, in particular through the anti-corruption expertise of draft legal acts, to be valuable as a tool for improving legislation in the country.

For reference
The event is part of the joint program of the European Union and the Council of Europe, "Partnership for Good Governance", which is jointly funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe within the framework of the regional project "Strengthening measures to prevent and combat economic crime in the Eastern Partnership region." The event was also attended by Council of Europe consultants and experts from France, Slovenia, Latvia, Switzerland, and the United States of America. The event facilitated the exchange of best comparative practices in identifying and assessing corruption risks in the public and private sectors, as well as the presentation of the Council of Europe's approach to national corruption risk assessment.
